Town planning

   Today I went to a lecture of Motani Kosuke,　about “village-vicinity mountain capitalistic economy”.
   He said, what we thought common was not common for strangers. Who couldn’t comprehend it shouldn’t have to do with the tourism.

   Population aging comes to Hita city, later, it comes to Fukuoka city or Metropolitan area. The working population is decreasing. In Hita city, the increase of over age sixty-five population is less than Fukuoka city. From now on Fukuoka city should spend more money for senior citizen. Compared with Fukuoka city, Hita city is better.

    In the future, even the population of senior will decrease. It is need to reform the industrial structure. Forest resources has potential  usage. In Austria they make use seventy present of the forest for glued laminated timber, and they make pellets from wood chips for energy resource.

   He said, though people live in Hita let their sons and daughters go to urban area, he recommended to create new industry which call back young people and increase children’s population.  He declared that Hita city was surrounded by beautiful nature and it was near big city, Fukuoka and an airport. You should better make  them come back home with quitting work at convenience stores in a city.

  His lecture was far from boring, he talked very casually and he often asked something and made us show our answer by hands sign.

  After Mr.Motani’s lecture, the Workshop of Hita Social Business members had a presentation. I knew about a camp at Tubakigahana, Kawadoko by Mikuma River, and A stall in Hita station square. It was very interesting.

   I am impressed the town planning which ordinary people get along healthy and happily.

  I hope my sons  listen to this kind of lecture.

  　今日　藻谷浩介氏の「里山資本主義」についての講演を聴きに行った。
　私たちが当たり前だと思っていることが他所から来た人にとっては当たり前ではないという。それを理解しない人を観光業に関わらせてはダメとのこと。
　高齢化は日田市に来るし、遅れて福岡市にも首都圏にもやってくる。現役世代は減少する。日田市は６５歳以上の人口の増加は福岡市ほどではない。今後、福岡市は税金を高齢者のためにより多く支出しなくてはならない。それを思えば日田市はまだ希望がある。
　これからは高齢者の人口すら減る。産業の転換をしなくてはならない。山林の資源は活用できる。オーストリアは７０％の木を利用し集成材を作り木屑をペレットにエネルギーとして使っている。
　日田市の人たちは子どもを都会へやっているが日田市で産業を作り若者を呼びよせ子ども人口を増やした方がいい。日田市は自然に恵まれ福岡も至近距離で空港も近い。都会でコンビニで働いている子どもを辞めさせ帰郷させよ。
　たいへんカジュアルな話し言葉でしょっちゅう海上に質問し手のサインで回答させるので飽きさせなかった。
　藻谷氏の講演のあと、日田市ソーシャルビジネス研究会の人が椿花のキャンプ、三隈川の川床、それに駅前屋台の取り組みを発表した。とても興味深いものだった。
　ふつうの人々が健康で楽しく生きていけるまちづくりに深く感銘を受けた。
　こういう話を倅達にも聞かせたい。

the result of entrance exam

   Last Monday our school was off because of the graduation ceremony on the day before.
  My daughter and I went to the Post office and the bank. I received a maturity refund of the education insurance.
  I made my daughter’s bank account which to pay monthly.

    Then we went to a clothes shop. I bought a set of jacket and skirt, a blouse, a pair of shoes and a bag for her.

    On 7th Mar. the university let the applicant know the result of entrance exam.

    My daughter was very lucky to find out her examinee’s number on the website.
    She told me the result, then went to see her home room teacher. 
    In the evening I called my mother to let her know the news and say that I greatly appreciate the education insurance she gave us.

   この前の月曜日はその前々日が卒業式だったため学校が休みだった。
　娘といっしょに郵便局と銀行に行った。満期になった学資保険を受け取った。銀行で毎月払い戻されるよう娘の口座を作った。

　それから洋服やさんへ行った。娘にスーツとブラウス、靴、バッグを買った。

　７日は合格発表の日だった。
　
　運良く娘の受験番号をウエブサイトで見つけることができた。
　娘は私にその結果を伝え、担任の先生に言いに行った。
　夜私は母に電話してこのニュースを伝え、学資保険にとても感謝していると伝えた。

I drove to Notsu-machi

    On 25 Feb. I went to Notsu and Usuki to receive books from Notsu high school and Usuki commercial high school.

      It took about two hours to Notsu high school by car. Then I put books into boxes. I received about seven hundred books including new and old.  At Notsu high school the library is on the second floor. The Notsu high school librarian helped me loading the boxes on my car.
       Then I went to Usuki commercial high school. The librarian already packed the books into five boxes. I loaded them into my car.
      After I came back Hita high school, I began to carry the boxes to the library on the third floor. I carried and carried. When I had carried about half of them, two girl students came to help me. They were so helpful. There were thirty or forty boxes. 
       On the next day and the day after next I stuck bar code seal and input bibliographic data for ninety seven old books. We need the record of transfer for the books. We don’t need the record of transfer for the other books.
  So I can take time to examine those books and decide which books add to our catalog.

         On 28 Feb. the alumni association entrance ceremony and graduation ceremony  rehearsal. All the third grade students came to school.
 About ten executive alumni association members attended. After the entrance ceremony had finished, the graduation ceremony rehearsal  was held.I stood below the stage. Students were given diploma from the principal on the stage then walked to the edge of the stage and went down to the floor and handed the diploma to me. Then walked a few steps, and made a bow to the guests, then walked to their seats.

        On the day of rehearsal, I supposed to get the diplomas and carry to the faculty room.
        But on the nest morning, I told that the roll changed to another person. And I allowed to sit in the parents seat.

  2月25日、野津と臼杵に、野津高校の本と臼杵商業の本をもらいに行った。
　野津高校まで車で約2時間かかった。それから本を箱詰めした。古いの新しいの取り混ぜておよそ７００冊受け取った。野津高校の図書館は２階にある。野津の司書さんが箱を車に積むのを手伝ってくれた。
　それから臼杵商業に行った。もう司書さんが箱に入れてくれていたのでそれを車に積んだ。
　日田高に帰って箱を３階の図書館に運び始めた。何度も運んだ。およそ半分くらいやったところで2人の女子生徒が手伝いにきてくれた。本当に助かった。30か40くらいあった。
 次の日とその翌日、97冊の古い本にバーコードシールを貼って書誌データを入力した。それには管理換えの書類がいる。それ以外の本には要らない。だからゆっくりどれを受け入れるか吟味することができる。

　2月28日同窓会入会式と卒業式の予行があった。３年生が登校してきた。 １０人くらい同窓会の役員さんがみえた。入会式が終わったあと卒業式の予行があった。私はステージ下に立った。壇上で学校長から卒業証書を受け取った卒業生は舞台端まで進み降壇して証書を私に渡す。それから数歩歩いて来賓にお辞儀をして席に戻る。
　予行の時点では私は証書を受け取りそれを職員室に運ぶことになっていた。
　しかし、翌日、その役目は他の人に変わったと言われた。そして保護者席に座っていていいと言われた。

commencement

Commencement

  　On 1st March my daughter’s high school held the graduation ceremony.

  　After the ceremony held at gymnasium the graduates and their parents went to their home rooms. I entered my daughter’s class room.

   　The class room teacher and two assistant class room teachers and students made farewell speeches.
 
  　 Each student was given a piece of pottery which shaped and baked by the head teacher of the third grade and written letters by their class room teacher. They were surprised so much because they know how busy their teachers had been.

 　 In my daughter’s class room, there were many students who has not decided which university to go. The earlier university entrance exam result will be known on 7th March. Then the students who won’t be passed it are going to take the later exam.

  　So including my daughter, most of students are studying for the later exam.

  　When I used to be a student, I didn’t think the graduation ceremony was necessary, if I would be given the diploma at the short home room activity, that would be enough.

 　Now I know such a ceremony is need for parents and teachers. It is the last chance for parents to say good-bye and thank you for every thing to teachers.
An organization made up of parents sent some small presents to teachers.

　卒業
 3月1日　娘の高校の卒業式があった。
体育館での式のあと、卒業生と親は教室に行った。娘の教室に入った。
クラス担任と2人の副担任の先生と生徒たちはお別れの挨拶をした。

　生徒達ひとりひとり、学年主任が作ってクラス担任が字を書いた焼き物の茶碗をもらった。生徒たちは先生達がどんなに忙しいか知っているのでとてもびっくりしていた。

　娘のクラスにはまだ進路が決まっていない生徒がたくさんいる。前期試験の結果は３月７日にわかる。それに受からなかった生徒は後期試験を受ける。
　それで娘も含めてたくさんの生徒たちが後期試験に向けて勉強している。

　自分が生徒だったころ、卒業式は必要ないと思っていた。帰りのショートホームルームで卒業証書を貰えたら充分なのにと。
　今は、そういった式は先生と保護者のために必要なのだと思う。親が先生にいろいろありがとうとお礼を言いお別れをいう最後の機会だから。
 保護者会から先生方にささやかな贈り物を贈った。

The town comfortable to live

I’ve read a book, “The town comfotable to live”.
The author Ms.Mayumi Oka studying the suicide rate and the characteristics of the region.
Kaifu-cho, —Kaiyo-cho present name— is the town which has remarkably low suicide rate .

People live in this town put emphasis on diversity. They treat other people by the person themselves. They are confident in them. “Display your disease in the market” is their motto. Their relationship is flexible,not fixing.

The association named “Peer group” has no rule. The elder take care of the younger, teach younger something without forcing nor hazing.

The town which suicide rate is low has character , and the town which suicide rate is high also has character.

Low rate area
  It has low degree slope,plain. The population density is high. The climate is mild and it has sea.
High rate area
  It exists in steep mountain area. The population density is low. The year-round temperature is low, and it has much snow in winter.

  Some people thin the strong tie is helpful to prevent suicide, but in case of the residents ties strongly, they tend to be hostile to strangers. They hesitate to tell others their worries or troubles, and ask help.

 I’m so impressed reading this book. I think about my mother and myself. My mother has a strong sense of responsibility. And she had been depressed. I live in steep mountain area, and the population density is low.

 I should remember to maintain a safe distance from my acquaintance.And when I have trouble I release it public to prevent depression.

  I am so glad that who I told this book immediately interested in.

 I will recommend this book to high school students who wonder what they will study in university.

　『生き心地の良い町』
『生き心地の良い町』という本を読んだ。
著者の岡檀さんは自殺率と地域特性について研究している。
海部町(現　海陽町)は際立って低い自殺率である。

この町に住む人たちは多様性に重きを置く。人物本位で人を見る。自己効力感、自己信頼感が高い。「病、市に出せ」を旨としている。緩やかで、固定しない人間関係を維持している。

「朋輩組」という組織は会則を持たない。年上の者は年下の者に教えるが強制はないししごきもない。

自殺率の低い町は特徴があり、自殺率の高い町も特徴がある。
　自殺率希少地域
　傾斜の弱い平坦な地形でコミュニティが密集しており、気候の温暖な海沿いの地域
　自殺多発地域
　険しい山間部の過疎状態にあるコミュニティで年間を通して気温が低く、冬季には雪が積もる地域

　強い絆が自殺を防止するのに役立つと考える人もいるが、強い絆があるほど外に向かって排他的である。悩みや問題が開示されにくく援助希求が抑制される。

　この本を読んで深く考えさせられた。自分の母と自分自身のことを考えた。母は責任感がたいへん強い。うつ病にかかっていた。私は険しい山間部に住んでおり人口密度は低い。
　知り合いと適度な距離を保つことを心に留めておこう。そして問題があるときは自殺防止のためにそれを公にしよう。

　この本のことを話すと相手がすぐに興味をもってくれるのがとても嬉しい。

  大学に行って何を研究したらいいのかわからない高校生に薦めよう。

What happend in last weekend

    On last Friday, the second meeting of the third building club was held.
    I am on duty of  this year. So I arranged this party again.  I managed their convenience and decided which restaurant to go.
     I chose Kamon near Hita station.
　　All the dishes tasted very good, so-called cultured Washoku. We enjoyed food and drink. We absorbed ex-girl talk.
     And one of us was awarded as a person who had rendered distinguished educational service last month, and one of us had married recently. So we cerebrated the two sending bouquets.

      After the meeting I should calculate our share of party expenses and gather. That’s the last task. I’ll be happy when it’ll be over.

     In last Sunday evening, though I didn’t know why, I vomited suddenly. I went to the rest room repeatedly.
　 In the next morning as I didn’t want to eat anything,  I ate picked ume. I didn’t take leave.
    Unfortunately  I was to attend a party of my department on Monday,  I cancelled it . I was patient during the day at work and on my way back I bought a medicine.
    Because the next day was off, I slept till late and rested. That took effect. I got recover.

　　　　　先週の金曜日　第２回３棟会があった。
今年は私が幹事だ。それでまた会を企画した。みんなの都合を調整し場所を決めた。日田駅そばの花門にした。
　　　料理は全部とても美味しかった、いわゆる洗練された和食だった。食べ物と飲み物を楽しんだ。元ガールトークに没頭した。
それに、１人が先月教育功労者で表彰され、１人が最近結婚したので　花束を上げてお祝いした。

　　　会のあと費用を計算して集めなくてはならない。それが最後の仕事だ。終わったらやれやれだ。

　　　この前の日曜日の夕方、どうしたわけか突然吐いた。お手洗いに何度も行った。
　　　翌朝は何も食べたくなかったので、梅干しを食べた。休みは取らなかった。
　　　あいにく月曜日は分掌の懇親会に行く予定だった。それはやめにした。日中はがまんして仕事をし、帰りに薬を買った。
　　翌日が休みの日だったので遅くまで寝て休養した。効果があった。回復した。

A wedding ceremony

On 25 Jan. my nephew’s wedding ceremony was held. My daughter and I went to Kagoshima.We started at 8:30 a.m.as we asked to be until 1: 30 p.m.
    I drove to Kumamoto then from Kumamoto IC to Kagoshima Kita IC I drove on Kyusyu express way.
   At Kumamoto city I dropped in a supermarket to buy an envelope for gift money.
  Next I parked at Ebino service aria to take five. My daughter bought me a cup of coffee. After I drunk coffee I went to a rest room. Then I opened my bag and found my wallet wasn’t there. I looked for it in my car, but I didn’t find it.
   I was afraid because some credit cards and cash cards were n the wallet.
  I reminded that I took out it at the supermarket. While I was driving my daughter searched the store’s phone number and called. She explained I might have lost my wallet there, then the clerk said they kept it.
  I was so glad and so relieved.
  We arrived the hotel where the wedding ceremony to be held in time.
  My nephew met his wife at a badminton club.  The bride has gone through Nagasaki graduate school and works as a pharmacist.  She looks very cheerfully.  My nephew works for a shinkin bank.
   Her co-workers from a hospital sung and danced, and his co-workers had a quiz show. And both friends made speeches. It was happy ceremony.

  On 26 Jan. there was a student-parent-teacher meeting of my daughter was held. It was the day of decision making which university send apply.
   First her teacher said which universities he thought appropriate. Fortunately those were the same universities in my daughter’s mind. So the meeting was not long.

１月２５日　甥の結婚式があった。娘と鹿児島へ行った。午後１時３０分までに来てと言われていたので朝８時半に出た。
　熊本までクルマを走らせ熊本インターから鹿児島北インターまで九州高速自動車道で行った。
　熊本で祝儀袋を買うためにスーパーに寄った。
　次にちょっと休憩するためえびのサービスエリアに入った。娘がコーヒーを買って来てくれた。コーヒーを飲んでトイレに行った。そこでバッグを開け財布が無いことに気づいた。クルマを探したけれど見つからなかった。
　クレジットカードもキャッシュカードも入っているので心配になった。
　スーパーで財布を出したのを想い出した。私が運転している間に娘がネットで電話番号を調べお店に電話した。私がそちらで財布を失くしたかもしれないと説明したところ、お店で預かっていると言われた。
　とても嬉しくてとても安心した。
　結婚式には間に合った。
　甥は相手の方とバドミントンの倶楽部で知り合った。花嫁は長崎大院卒で薬剤師をしている。彼女はとても朗らかだった。甥は信用金庫で働いている。
　彼女の同僚が歌って踊り、甥の同僚がクイズを出した。双方の友人がスピーチをした。楽しい結婚式だった。

　１月２６日　娘の三者面談があった。志望校決定の日だ。
　最初に先生がどこの大学がよいと思うか話した。幸い娘が心に思っていたのとまったく同じだった。それで面談は長くはかからなかった。
