Constitution day

On 3rd May, the Constitution day,I went to hear a lecture given by Ms. IKEDA Kayoko, who is the author of "Sekai ga moshi hyakuninn no mura dattara".
She was angry about the children were blamed for being drop down their ability. She explained the ranking of PISA was down than before because of adding new participants. Suppose you were a student, even if your ability was same, as a smart transfer student came to your school your rank would drop down. She felt compassion for Japanese children.
She told about the Constitution. Maybe we think education, labour, and tax paying is our duty. She suggests children can't get education by themselves, so the adults support children to get education. It's the adults' duty and children's right. Labour is one of our right. Tax paying is our proclamation which we run the nation paying the necessary expences by ourselves.
I am surprised to know she and Mr.KAMATA Minoru are classmates. She joints efforts his charity of supporting the victim of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant's accident. She said if we bought the books selling at the lobby, the benefit would contribute his charity. So I bought a book "The Constitution of Japan". She has translated the Constitution of Japan written in English originally to plain Japanese. It is more recognizable than the official Constitution.
I'm so glad I could hear such a suggestive lecture on the memorial day of Constitution.

５月３日　憲法記念日、池田香代子さんの講演に行きました。彼女は『世界がもし１００人の村だったら』の著者です。
池田さんは子ども達が学力低下と非難されることに怒っていました。ＰＩＳＡの順位が下がったのは新しく加わった国があるからと説明しました。皆さんが生徒だと想像してみて、学力が前と同じでも賢い転校生が来たら順位は下がってしまうでしょう、と。池田さんは日本の子ども達に同情していました。
　彼女は憲法について話しました。おそらく皆さんは教育・労働・納税は義務だと思っておられます。子ども達は自分では教育を受けることができないから大人が教育を受けられるようにしてあげないといけません。教育は大人の義務であり子どもの権利です。労働は権利のひとつです。納税は、私たちが自分達で必要経費をもつことでこの国を回していくのだという宣言です。
　彼女と鎌田實さんが同級生だと知って驚きました。鎌田さんのチェルノブイリ原発事故の被害者支援の活動に彼女も協力しているそうです。ロビーで売っている本を買うと売り上げがその活動に寄付されると言いました。それで私は『日本国憲法』の本を１冊買いました。英語原文の憲法を彼女がやさしい日本語に訳したものです。公式の日本国憲法よりわかりやすいです。
　憲法記念日に示唆に富む講演を聴くことができてうれしいです。
