The Sound of Brass

On 18 Oct. there was an event at Hita Gymnasium,"The Sound of Brass". A brass band concert. Two elementary school children band and four high school's bands --Showagakuen, Tohin, Hita, Hita-rinko --performed. And as a guest player, Kyushusangyo high school's brass band performed.
When Showagakuen brass band were playing marching the baton twirling club members were playing together. I love watching a DVD of blast, they were also
gorgeous with flags and horns.
I was surprised to see the Hita high school instrument club. It might be less than one year since it had set up. For both clubs of Tohin and Hita band had small members,they played jointed. I didn't understand technical skills, they played joyfully to their hearts' content, so I was impressed.
I like Hita-rinko band 'cause they play brightly and cheerfully both marching and concert. Kyusyusangyo high school band is high grade worth gold medal of Fukuoka pref. brass band competition,every musical pieces were excellent.
Each high school students looked having respect for their staff advisers to the bands. I thought those students adorable.
This year I had not been noticed this event. On 17 Saturday, as my son went to school for Saturday supplemental classes, I took him to Tashima field. Then I noticed an ad flag. As my daughter's junior high school didn't participate this year, I got no information from junior high school.
The event was held by Agency for Cultural Affairs as one of the plans for promoting local culture and art. I saw many persons on Hita-rinko high school brass band's parent association working. I'm willing to go to a big jazz festival someday all right, but I'm so glad to have oppotunities to see a live performance in my home town.

10月18日、日田総合体育館で「ブラスの響き」というイベントがありました。吹奏楽のコンサートです。小学生バンド２つと４つの高校　--昭和学園、藤蔭、日田、日田林工--の吹奏楽部が出演し、ゲストとして九州産業高校吹奏楽部が出演しました。
　昭和学園のマーチングにはバトン部も一緒に演技をしました。私はブラストのDVDが大好きなのですが、これも旗やホーンが入って華やかでした。　驚いたのは日田高の器楽部です。できて1年も経っていないのではないでしょうか。藤蔭も日田高も部員が少ないので合同で演奏しました。私は技術的なことはわかりませんが、のりのりで心ゆくまで演奏していて心に迫りました。
日田林工の吹奏楽部はマーチングも演奏も元気よく楽しげにするので大好きです。九州産業高校は県のコンクールで金賞をとるほどレベルの高いバンドでどの曲もみごとでした。
　高校生たちはそれぞれの顧問の先生を尊敬しているようでした。すばらしいことだと思います。　
　今年はこれがあることに気づいていませんでした。17日土曜日、土曜学習会があるので倅を田島陸上競技場に送ってきました。そのときのぼりに気づきました。
娘の中学校は今年は出演しなかったので中学校からはお知らせがありませんでした。
　この企画は文化庁の地域文化芸術振興プランによるものでした。日田林工の吹奏楽部の保護者の方たちがたくさん働いていました。私はいつか大きなジャズフェスティバルに行きたいと思っていますが、地元の町で生の音楽を聴ける機会があることは本当にうれしいです。
