Shopping

Last Sunday, my daughter and I went to shopping at Hisayama town and
Kasuya town in Fukuoka Pref.

I was interested in Costco, because I had heard about it from
Ms.Kurokawa and Mr.Watson, also I had read "The Big Squeeze" written
by Steven Greenhouse. My daughter asked me to take her to IEON MALL
Fukuoka Lucle. Her junior high school planned a school excursion
from 29 Sept. to 3 Oct. So she wanted to prepare some stuffs.

On 27 Sept. the drive from Oyama moved through Fukuoka IC dropping
in Costco took her IEON MALL Fukuoka Lucle.
I went to Costco for the first time. Though I didn't buy much goods
then, I might buy all commodities which my second eldest son will
need when he will leave home before long.
The workers looked young and briskly. I mused they were proud of
themselves on the company. I thought it was a good idea to check the
purchase and receipt and to look into customers' bags at an exit.
They need no guard. So they can cut the personnel expenses.
At IEON MALL my daughter bought a roller bag which she loved. It
cost six thousand yen. I recommended her to use her elder brother's
black roller bag. But she refused saying it was ugly. She has a
definite taste in clothes or style. After careful consideration she
bought a tops. She can't get along with anything. Once I was warned
I looked like a woman in Showa ira when I wore a open-necked shirt
tucking in my pants.

She might have spent almost money she had saved the allowance I gave
her monthly and the allowance my aunts had given her when we visited
my hometown.
I gave her twelve thousand yen for the school excursion. I hope she
will have a nice trip.

It is often　said that suburbanization have reduced youth's self-
esteem. Because in suburb similar big stores are selling so many
similar goods, which influences people to make sense everything's
able to replaced. They say the youth become to feel themselves not
being unique but being replaceable.
But I can take my children to shopping mall once or twice a year.
Still I can't realize that. Perhaps it’s important and difficult to
balance the desire and self-control.

　この前の日曜日、娘と福岡県の久山町と粕屋町に買い物に行きました。
私はコストコに興味がありました、というのも黒川さんとワトソンさんが話
していたからです。それにスティーブン　グリーンハウスの書いた『大搾取
！』も読んだからです。　娘はイオンモール福岡ルクルに連れて行ってとい
いました。中学校の修学旅行が9月29日から10月3日までです。それで何か用
意するものがあったのです。　
27日にクルマで、大山から福岡インターを通
ってコストコに寄ってイオンモール福岡ルクルに行きました。
　コストコには初めて行きました。今回はあまり買わなかったけれど、2番
目の倅が遠からず家を出るときには必要な物を買い揃えるかもしれません。
　従業員は若くきびきびしていました。この会社で働くのを誇りに思ってい
るんだろうと思いました。出口でレシートと買ったものをチェックして、客
のかばんの中を調べるのはいい考えだと思いました。これだとガードマンは
要りませんので人件費を節約できます。
　
イオンモールで娘は気に入ったキャリーバッグを買いました。6千円でし
た。娘に兄の黒いキャリーバックを使うようすすめたのですが、ダサいとい
ってききませんでした。娘は着るものとかスタイルにはっきりした好みがあ
ります。さんざん迷って上に着るものを買いました。なんでもいいというわ
けにはいきません。私は一度、開襟シャツをパンツに入れて着ていて昭和の
人みたいと注意されたことがあります。
　
娘は私が月々あげるお小遣いと、田舎に行ったとき私のおば達にもらった
お小遣いを貯めていたお金をほとんど使ってしまったようです。
　修学旅行用に1万2千円あげました。楽しんできてほしいです。
　
よく郊外化は若者の自尊心を低めたといわれます。郊外では似たような大
きな店で似たようなたくさんの物を売っているので、すべてが入れ替え可能
なように思うようになるからです。若者が自分をかけがえのない存在ではな
く入れ替え可能な存在と思うようになったといわれます。
　しかし、うちでは年に1回か2回しか子どもをショッピングモールに連れて
いけません。それについてはまだ理解できません。たぶん、欲望と自制のバ
ランスをとることが、大切でむずかしいのでしょう。
