On 25 Jan. my nephew’s wedding ceremony was held. My daughter and I went to Kagoshima.We started at 8:30 a.m.as we asked to be until 1: 30 p.m.
I drove to Kumamoto then from Kumamoto IC to Kagoshima Kita IC I drove on Kyusyu express way.
At Kumamoto city I dropped in a supermarket to buy an envelope for gift money.
Next I parked at Ebino service aria to take five. My daughter bought me a cup of coffee. After I drunk coffee I went to a rest room. Then I opened my bag and found my wallet wasn’t there. I looked for it in my car, but I didn’t find it.
I was afraid because some credit cards and cash cards were n the wallet.
I reminded that I took out it at the supermarket. While I was driving my daughter searched the store’s phone number and called. She explained I might have lost my wallet there, then the clerk said they kept it.
I was so glad and so relieved.
We arrived the hotel where the wedding ceremony to be held in time.
My nephew met his wife at a badminton club. The bride has gone through Nagasaki graduate school and works as a pharmacist. She looks very cheerfully. My nephew works for a shinkin bank.
Her co-workers from a hospital sung and danced, and his co-workers had a quiz show. And both friends made speeches. It was happy ceremony.
On 26 Jan. there was a student-parent-teacher meeting of my daughter was held. It was the day of decision making which university send apply.
First her teacher said which universities he thought appropriate. Fortunately those were the same universities in my daughter’s mind. So the meeting was not long.
１月２５日 甥の結婚式があった。娘と鹿児島へ行った。午後１時３０分までに来てと言われていたので朝８時半に出た。
熊本までクルマを走らせ熊本インターから鹿児島北インターまで九州高速自動車道で行った。
熊本で祝儀袋を買うためにスーパーに寄った。
次にちょっと休憩するためえびのサービスエリアに入った。娘がコーヒーを買って来てくれた。コーヒーを飲んでトイレに行った。そこでバッグを開け財布が無いことに気づいた。クルマを探したけれど見つからなかった。
クレジットカードもキャッシュカードも入っているので心配になった。
スーパーで財布を出したのを想い出した。私が運転している間に娘がネットで電話番号を調べお店に電話した。私がそちらで財布を失くしたかもしれないと説明したところ、お店で預かっていると言われた。
とても嬉しくてとても安心した。
結婚式には間に合った。
甥は相手の方とバドミントンの倶楽部で知り合った。花嫁は長崎大院卒で薬剤師をしている。彼女はとても朗らかだった。甥は信用金庫で働いている。
彼女の同僚が歌って踊り、甥の同僚がクイズを出した。双方の友人がスピーチをした。楽しい結婚式だった。
１月２６日 娘の三者面談があった。志望校決定の日だ。
最初に先生がどこの大学がよいと思うか話した。幸い娘が心に思っていたのとまったく同じだった。それで面談は長くはかからなかった。

entrance examination
Last Saturday and Sunday, the National Center Exam was held.
My daughter left the high school on Friday afternoon. All the students who take the exam left for Beppu
by hired buses.
They left at lunch break for other students could see them off.
Teachers wrote their words to encourage them on two pieces of cloths. According to my daughter, the buses
hired by Maizuru high school and Uenogaoka high school also had hung the banners.
They came home on Sunday evening.
My daughter said she didn’t do well at mathematics, and about contemporary Japanese language, the novel was easy but essay was difficult, and classics was very difficult.
On Monday students checked their answers, estimate their points, and handed their teachers. Then teachers sent the result to several companies and cramming schools.
This coming Friday and Saturday the teachers deals with third grade going to discuss which university is suitable for each examinee to apply for the second both earlier and later. They will estimate the possibility to pass.
On coming Sunday, there will be a meeting of student-parent-teacher. Then the student will decide which universities to apply.
After the meeting each students have to prepare second exam, arranging the trip for exam, getting students discount proof, making reservation for transportation and hotels, and studying.
Some private university accept an apply with only the National Center Exam result.
I hope my daughter not catching cold or being infect norovirs.

Today my daughter got three sheet of estimate to pass the entrance exam.
Those three are all different so that she has been confused.
Anyway she should hand in an application to the university she wants to go and an application to another university and an application to a junior college that she will go when failed the other exam.

先週の土日、センター試験があった。
娘は金曜の午後学校を出発した。受験する生徒はみんな別府へ向けて貸し切りバスで出発した。
他の生徒たちが見送れるようお昼休みに出発した。
先生たちは2枚の大きな布に励ましの言葉を書いた。娘によると、舞鶴のバスにも上野丘のバスにもバナーが掲げてあったそうだ。
生徒たちは日曜日の夕方帰って来た。
娘はあまりできがよくなかったと言っていた。数学が。そして現代国語は小説は易しかったけれど評論は難しかった、古典はとても難しかった、と言っていた。
月曜日に自己採点し、それを先生に出した。先生は何社かと予備校に送った。
金曜日に３年部の先生たちは生徒が2次で前期後期受験する大学を検討する。合格するかどうかを予測する。
日曜日に生徒、親、先生の３者面談がある。そこで生徒は受験校を決定する。
その後性とたちは2次試験に向けて準備しなくてはならない。受験旅行の算段、学割をもらい交通機関や宿泊施設の予約、それに勉強。
私大のなかにはセンター試験の点だけで受験できるところもある。
娘にはかぜをひかずノロウイルスに感染しないでほしい。

今日 娘が３種類の合格可能性判定をもらってきた。
全部違っていてとてもたじろいでいる。
ともかく、行きたい大学１校、もう１校 そして滑り止めの短大に願書を出すのが良いだろう。

Quick Reads
I’ve read “Doctor who : the silurian gift”.
I’ve found this book inexpensive, so I bought this and one more book “A sea change”. Both books were 182 yen each.
Thanks for the campaign of “Quick Reads”, some good books are sold by inexpensive prices. I appreciate getting these books.
I’ve never known about “Quick Reads”. According to the website : www.quickreads.org.uk, one in six adults of working age in the UK find reading difficult and may never pick up a book. Since 2006 the Quick Reads has distributed over 4.5 million books, registered 3 million library loans and through the outreach work hundreds of thousands of new readers each year.
I don’t read books written in English so often, because it takes about four times long as books written in Japanese. Some teachers exhorts us to read much, the method is called Read Much. So far I’ve hesitated to do it. I guessed I won’t be able to read much because of my slowness in reading.
Fortunately I’ve known about the Quick Reads, I’ve tried one of the book they suggest. It is exciting and no difficult words. I might be able to read these books without flinching. In addition the price is low. Quick Reads is more suitable to me than Read Much.
My New Year resolution is reading interesting books in the recommend of Quick Reads constantly.

この本が安いのに気づいて、もう１冊の 『海のチェンジ』と一緒に買った。どちらも１８０円だった。
クイックリード運動のおかげで、良い本が安い値段で売られている。こうした本を入手できることに感謝している。
クイックリードのことは知らなかった。ウエブサイトの情報によると、イギリスでは６人に１人の働く年代の人が本を読むことを困難と感じ本を手にとらないらしい。２００６年から４５０万冊の本を配布し、３00万冊の図書館の蔵書を貸し出し、派生した取り組みによって毎年何十万人もの人が新しく本を読むようになっている。
私は英語で書かれた本をそうひんぱんには読まない、なぜならだいたい日本語の本の４倍時間がかかるからだ。多読を英語上達の方法として薦める先生もいて、多読と呼ばれる。いままでそれはためらってきた。私のスローなペースでは多くを読むことはできないと思って。
幸いクイックリード（チョイ読み）のことを知った。そこでお薦めの本を１冊試してみた。面白くて難しい言葉はなかった。こういう本なら尻込みせず読めそうだ。その上値段も安い。チョイ読みは私には多読よりも合ってるかも。
今年の抱負はチョイ読みお薦めの面白い本を定期的に読むことだ。

drainage in my kitchen
The drainage in my kitchen
On sixth January, I called a plumber.
From the end of last year, I had worried about something obstruct in a pipe of kitchen.
I tried to remove it by a tool, a long flexible steel coil for deal with drain pipe, and tried some detergent to clean the pipe.
But it was getting worse. I called a plumber who dealt with when I had built my house fifteen years ago after winter holidays.
The man who I called was retired because of bad health. He said he had introduced his old customers different plumber. He asked me also wanted to and I agreed.
After a while I got a phone call from a plumber. I asked him to come to my house on the same day.
In the early evening two men came to my house. They cleaned the pipe with plumber’s snake, which was similar to my kitchen tool but stalwart and moved by electric power.
They remove much sludge of oil and fats. I was surprised and felt embarrassed. Usually I wipe off grease before wash the dishes. Still I have release grease into the pipe. No way!
I was taught I should pour hot water every now and then.
My New Year resolution is pouring a bucket of hot water monthly lest it is closed.

１月６日 水道屋さんに電話した。
去年の暮れから、台所の排水管が詰まっているようで気になった。
スチールのコイルでパイプを通す道具でつまりを取ろうとしたり、パオプつまりをとる薬品も使ってみた。
でも悪くなるばかりだった。休みあけに１５年前家を建てたときやってもらった水道屋さんに電話した。
電話した水道屋さんは身体を悪くしてやめていた。いままでのお客さんには別の業者を紹介していると言った。私もそれでいいかきかれたのでおねがいした。
少しして水道屋さんから電話があった。その日のうちに来てもらうよう頼んだ。
夕方早く二人来てくれた。配管工事の人が使う道具で、うちの道具と似ているけど頑丈で電気で動くものを使ってパイプを掃除した。
油のかたまりをどっさり取り除いた。驚いてきまり悪かった。いつもお皿を洗う前に油汚れはふく。それでもたくさん流していたんだ。しょうがない。
ときどきお湯を流すと良いと教わった。
新年の抱負はパイプが詰まらないよう毎月バケツ１杯のお湯を流すことだ。
