FUKUOKA RAINBOW FILM FESTIVAL

  Fukuoka Rainbow Film Festival has held on 5th November.

  Four films were screened; “Boy Meets Girl”, “I Go To School Not By Bus”, “TSUYAKO”, “Gabby Baby”.

  The heroine/hero of “Boy Meets Girl “ is a M to F Ricky. She used to be a boy, and now she is a girl. She has a good old friend. She fall in love with a girl accidentally, but the girl has a fiancé, the guy once slept with Ricky and he talk ill of her. The relationship of Ricky and the girl was banned, then Ricky noticed she loves her good old friend.

 In this movie, the relationship of Ricky and her best friend is unbudging. The people who support Ricky are very thoughtful especially her younger brother and her father. Ricky is a girl who is curious honest, and enthusiastic about fashion. It is full of humor and warmness. It’s an American movie.

  The protagonists of “I Go To School Not By Bus”. I suppose it’s a Chinese film. It describes the relationship of the two boy students.

At the school, a teacher opposes completely gay people. But one of the boy is content to be gay and shows his affection to the other boy. However this boy can’t handle his feeling. He left the town with leaving a drawing of the other boy. It is a painful sad departure scene. 

 “TSUYAKO” is a Japanese film. In the movie there is a factory which produces iron bolts and nuts. It is the very early post-war time. The factory itself looks very humble and most of the process based on human labour. The young lady called Tsuyako is working so hard. She has  two children, one is a toddler and one is a baby. One day a lady came to see her, who loves Tsuyako. She has invited her to go to Tokyo with her. Tsuyako goes to train station to go with her, but she has seen a little girl in the train and it has pulled back her to her own children.

She loves her but also she loves her children, and can’t left them behind. It is so touched.

The “Gayby Baby” is an Australian documentary film. There are four families, Three of those are two moms’ families and one of those is two dads’ family.

The camera follows young children of each family. In Australia, same sex marriage is still illegal. Both parents and children concern about neighbors or school teachers or students. But all of them talk earnestly about how they feel each other. This film convince viewers that same sex parents doesn’t the matter.  Rearing children is challenging work but worth to do. It does no difference between common parents and gay parents.

I was astonished how long time and how closely the camera has followed each families.

After the screening, there was a talk between  Ms.Bourbonne and Ms. Maki Muraki. I have heard about many movies which future LGBT.

In the venue, there were many photographs of “Out In Japan”. The photos of the LGBT people, they looked so confident.

But I was confused because I recently saw the “True Cost”, I don’t want to buy fast fashion. But this project is sponsored by GAP. 

I hope Gap makes their clothes by decent work and wage in developing country.

The company is generous to LGBT people, so maybe I’m not unrealistic.

11月5日、福岡でレインボー映画祭があった。４本の映画が上映された、「ボーイ・ミーツ・ガール」「スクール・デイズ」「TSUYAKO」「ゲイビー・ベイビー」。

「ボーイ・ミーツ・ガール」の主人公は男性から女性へのトランスジェンダー、リッキー。彼女には親友がいる。彼女はうっかり女の子と恋に落ちる。でも、その子にはフィアンセがいる、しかも一度リッキーと寝た、そして彼女のことを悪し様に言う。リッキーと彼女の関係は禁じられる。その後、リッキーは愛しているのは親友だと気づく。

この作品では、リッキーと親友との関係は揺るがない。リッキーを支えてくれている人々はとても思いやりがある,

特に弟と父親。リッキーは物事に興味しんしんで正直で、ファッションに熱中している。作品はユーモアがあり暖かい。アメリカ映画。

「スクール・デイズ」は中国映画のようだ。二人の男子学生の関係を描いている。学校ではある教師がゲイに対して敵対的。一方の少年はゲイである自分に自信を持っていてもう一人の少年に好意を表す。しかし、こちらの少年は自分の感情をどうしていいかわからずにいる。彼はもう一人の少年を描いた絵を残してこの街を離れる。辛い悲しい旅立ちのシーン。

「TSUYAKO」は日本映画。映画で、鉄のボルトとナットを作る工場が出てくる。戦後まもない頃。質素な工場でほとんどの工程が人の手によってなされる。艶子と呼ばれる若い女性がきつい仕事をしている。彼女には二人子供がいて、一人は幼児でもう一人は赤ん坊。ある日、一人の女性が彼女に会いにくる。彼女は艶子を愛している。一緒に東京へ行こうと誘う。艶子は彼女と一緒に行こうとして駅まで行くが、列車の中で小さい子供を見る。それで自分の子供への思いに引き戻される。彼女を愛しているけれど、同時に子供も愛している,置いてはいけない。とても胸に迫ってくる。

「ゲイビー・ベイビー」はオーストラリアのドキュメンタリー映画。４つの家庭が出てくる。３つはお母さん二人の家庭、1つはお父さん二人の家庭。カメラはそれぞれの家庭の青少年を追う。オーストラリアでは同性婚はまだ合法ではない。親たちも子供たちも、周囲の人々学校の先生や生徒がどう思うか気になる。でも、お互いに真剣に話し合う。この作品は見る人に、同性婚が問題なわけではないと思わせる。子供を育てることは困難でやりがいのあることだ。そこに一般的な親かゲイの親かと言う違いはない。

どれほどの長い時間、こんなに近い距離で、それぞれの家族を撮影したのかと圧倒された。

映画の後、ブルボンヌさんと村木真紀さんのトークがあった。たくさんのLGBTを描いた映画の話をされた。

この会場にはアウトオブジャパンの写真がたくさんあった。LGBTの人たちの写真でとても自信に満ちていた。でも、最近「ザ・トゥルーコスト」の映画を見たばかりだったので戸惑った。ファストファッションの服は自分では買いたくない。でもこのプロジェクトのスポンサーはGAPだ。GAPには発展途上国で適正な労働と適正な賃金で服を作ってほしい。この会社はLGBTにとても理解があるのだから、そう望むことは非現実的ではないと思う。
