I have had an oppotunity to hear Mr.Takahashi Yuujiro who is
promoting to conserve environment of Kuju lives in Kokonoe town.
The lecture started with an episode that he had built a skiing ground.
Now on the day of most guests ,there are from five hundred to six
hundred skii players. But fifteen years ago when he suggested to build
the skii ground there were few people to hear him.The Ministry of
Environment didn't permit to build in the National park. He persuaded
the bureaucrats like this,the agricultural whiz kids have no job during
winter, if there was a job of ski ground they would got their brides.
Then the Ministry of Environment permitted.
Meanwhile both lodal governments, Oita prefecture and Kokonoe town,
didn't subsidize because they didn't think it a sound investment.
So thirteen of his comrade put their money to the enterprise. Now, on
the busiest day they employ about one hundred part-time workers. They
give priority to employ the local people.
He had been running the ivent Kuju ice festival with his comrade of
NPO "Handakogen design kaigi". The purpuse was to advertise the good
quality of Kuju widely. For they have contented themselves they ended
the twenty-year-history event.
In summer they hold an event called Night hike,which the participants
walk 42.195 km. They gave vegitables or admission tickets for the hot
spring as the prize. So it have made the participants keep company each
other and with local people.
Thirty years ago, since there was a big earthquake many trees fallen.
Then he found the nice viewpoint where now the suspencion bridge is.
When he suggested to construct a suspencion bridge nobody took it quite
seriousry. He has kept in suggesting. Two years ago the suspencion
bridge,so-called "Kujuyumeturiohashi", has constructed. First the mayor
said he expected three hundred thousand visitor would come in a
year,but he retorted, for our suspension bridge was the No.1 in Japan
one million visitors should come. Actually two million visitors came.
Lately he suggests the Toki (Japanese crested ibis) yume project.
About fifteen years ago he worried about the consentration of crane to
Izumi city in Kagoshima Pref. because if once the birds influenza would
occur, the eighty percent kind of cranes would be influenced. After he
went to China to watch the Toki he noticed. The sanctuary where is
about 320 km far from Xian looked like Handa plateau for the plants.
The Toki was eating loach in the rice field.
That's the reason he suggests to grow rice without adricultural
chemical to let loach could live, and call Toki to Kuju.
It'll be related to grow the rice which is precious and edible with
confidence. He is intend to sell such rice at the nationwide
convenience stores.
If Toki would live in Kuju, the Kuji rice would be appele to the
consumer impressively.
I've heard the lecture desirably. I think he is a positive and
optimistic person, worthy to be called a venture founder.
トキ夢プロジェクトについて
九重町の久住の環境保護に取り組んでおられる高橋ゆうじろう氏の講演を聴
く機会がありました。
講演は彼が九重町にスキー場を造った頃の話から始まりました。いまでは多
い日は500～600人がスキーを楽しんでいます。が、彼が15年前スキー場を造ろ
うと言ったときにはほとんど相手にしてもらえませんでした。環境省は国立公
園内に建設することは許可してくれませんでした。彼は官僚を、農業を担う若
手が冬に仕事がない、スキー場で冬の仕事ができれば嫁も来てくれる、と説得
し、許可をもらいました。また一方、スキー場がもうかるなんて県も町も思わ
なかったので補助金は出してくれませんでした。13人の仲間がこの事業にお金
を出しました。今、一番忙しいときは100人くらいパートで働いています。地元
を優先して雇用しています。
彼はNPO 飯田高原デザイン会議で仲間といっしょに久住氷の祭典を行ってき
ました。久住のよさを広く知ってもらうのが目的でした。その目的を果たせた
ので20回やって終了しました。
夏はナイトハイクという42.195 km 歩くイベントをやります。賞品に野菜や
温泉入湯券を出し、参加してくれる人々同士や地元との交流をつくり出してい
ます。
30年前に大分県で大きな地震があり、たくさんの木が倒れました。そのとき
今の吊橋の場所の景観に気づいたそうです。吊橋を掛けようと言っても誰も本
気にしてくれませんでした。しかし言い続けました。一昨年、夢吊大橋ができ
、町長は年30万人来てくれればいいと言いましたが、彼は日本一なんだから100
万人には来てもらわなくては、と町長に言ったそうです。実際は200万人来まし
た。
今、彼はトキ夢プロジェクトを提唱してます。およそ15年前彼は鹿児島県の
出水市だけに鶴が来ている現状を心配したそうです。もし鳥インフルエンザが
発生したら鶴の80パーセントの種類が影響を受けてしまうからです。
中国にトキを見に行って気づきました。西安から320ｋｍ奥の保護区は飯田高
原と植生が近いと思いました。トキは田んぼのドジョウをえさにしていました
。ですから、田んぼを無農薬で作り、ドジョウが住めるようにして久住にトキ
を呼ぼうと言っています。それは安心して食べられる付加価値の高い米を作る
ことにつながります。そういう米を全国のコンビニエンスストアで販売しても
らおうと企画しています。トキが久住に来たら、久住米は消費者に強い印象を
与えるでしょう。
とてもおもしろい講演でした。彼は積極的で楽天的家で、冒険的創業者と呼
ばれるにふさわしいと思います。
