About Union of Myanmar 2

I've learned about Buruma more. I'll quote some of them.
Since 1962 Buruma's people heve been under the heel of a military
dictatorship.
The military regime is tabulously inept at handling the country's
finanses.
Witheout the infrastructure it is presiding over a grand sale of
the country's assets, with the top military brass amassing fortunes.
A person of the All Buruma Federation of Student Union put it :
"During the colonial period, the Burumese were slaves of Brirish.
Today we are enslaved by the military junta"
In August last year they doubled the price of diesel and petrol
and jacked up the cost of gas five-fold.
Thousands gathered in September 2007, to Mahabandoola Road, emboldened
by the protest of the monks.
After September 's protests, sattellite TV license fees were jumped
up from $5 to $800 to control who could see foreign news, Cellphones,
the weapons of political activists in hiding, cost $2000.
Buruma's ruling generals have a catchall word for all those outside
the country who want to usher in democracy - terrorists.
Elections were last held in 1990,when the National League for
Democracy secured a landslide, winning over 82% of parliamentary
seats. The results were annulled by the military regime.
I've known above by the magazine "New Internationalist" May 2008.
I'll continue to pay attention to Buruma.
